Delineations... a brief discussion
As a life interpreter I have to look at everything that is set out in front of me in your birth chart. I have to be able to pick up and identify key problematic areas in your life starting from childhood that you carry with you into your adulthood. Which means that I take a close look at the family dynamic: Mommy, Daddy and Baby. Now some people and or astrologers do not fully take these areas into consideration. They will look at the Sun (the personality) and Saturn(limits of personality) strictly in how it relates to you and yourself. but that only gives half the picture. It doesn't show you where the motivations are coming from and from whom they are interacting with. This is one way in which my version of Life Interpreting differs than that of an Astrologers. I give you insight into your parents state of being while you were coming into the world. Why is that so important you ask? Well... not very many of us can recall the first 3 years of our lives. In that time we are learning to first rely on someone that isn't our self for survival. We are learning that the person who hears our cries, holds us when we need comforting and takes care of our basic needs is mommy. From mommy we learn how to relate how to see another person that isn't our self and how to interact. If this isn't a favorable interaction then it can be seen expressed in the Delineations.
This is a big discussion on the astrological world; some think that there is a valid use in incorporating these aspects as you are reading a chart, others do not put such stock in these strings of words having any astrological meaning. Me?!? I believe that they do have meaning and are a great tool to use; just not in the way most astrologers would try to use them. What I mean by that is I like to incorporate the delineations AFTER I initially go over the chart and analyze the planets signs and houses so that I can spot the areas that need work or attention brought towards that aspect. Also, I like to make a chart that shows the energy in a clear path versus the path that they are on at birth to better explain the "why" and the "how". Yes I do a little of this in the beginning but when I'm done it's easier for someone who has never studied astrology to understand the different life paths within their life and see what energy is coming from each path.
Delineations is a fancy word for tying in the planet's energy and the sign energy with the house energy and whatever aspect its connected to energy. For example, Sun in Gemini in the 6th could mean: that the person or father (Sun) thinks intelligently(Gemini) in regards to his Health, work environment(6th house) or that The person's father (Sun)was a logically thinking man(Gemini) that worried a lot(6th house). or even still that the performer's(Sun) creativity(Sun) was very child-like (Gemini) during his service(6th house). On this merit alone you get correct information regarding the ideas of these energies but when you add the aspects for example Conjunct Moon in Gemini in the 6th house you get the additional: the mother (Moon) who superficially thinks(Gemini) about her health. (6th house) Emotions(Moon) are handled in a very logically (Gemini) and can be worrisome (6th house) in nature or the mother's emotions(Moon) are very child-like (Gemini) as it results to summer(6th house). so one could say that both parents(Sun and Moon) thought intelligently and logically (Gemini traits) but the mother's (moon)focus(conjunct) was more on the emotional(moon) side bordering on the child-like and superficial (Gemini traits)way of thinking while the father(sun) focused(conjunct) more on the work environment(6th house) than on the son's health(6th house) like his mother (moon) did. As you can see it leaves a lot up to the imagination in order to decipher what is going on just from those7 words, "Sun, Gemini ,6th House, conjunct, Moon, Gemini, 6th house." For this reason alone I wait till the end to do the Delineations. Once I have figured out where the energy is coming from and how that energy is being dispersed it makes it easier to use delineations to give better understanding.
