The Air Sign of Gemini...

Air signs and the Gemini...

I feel that it is important to understand what type of person is born under the sign of Gemini. Air signs are born communicators and represent the various kinds of communication that exist in our universe. these are people who are interested in exploring the world of the mind. they live in their heads or minds, they are mental people, they react to life from a mental point. They enjoy exploring the world or words, education, the various levels of philosophy and spirituality or a combination of sorts. These children usually wind up in families where no one communicates in a way that the child can understand; such circumstances can send the Air signs on a search for the meaning of words, the meaning of the mind, and all other fields of communication.

Gemini people are born into the most personal of all the Air signs. They wonder where they fit in the scheme of things. they have lots of "I", "me" and "my" in their consciousness and their life experience requires the incorporation of self into a larger universe. Gemini's are raised in a Father-dominated environment where communication between the parents is difficult for these children to understand. Disagreements between the parents are solved with words not deeds and since young children do not understand what words mean they are uncertain as to what all the fuss is about. they do know that something important is going on because the parents were upset by these strange words. Gemini children learn to use words well for they are good imitators; but often they do not know what the words mean. Because Gemini find communication intriguing they pursue either the world of conversations or the world or books. media becomes important to them and as a result make great contributions in that area.

They are explorers of the intellect and naturally very curious people. their curiosity can manifest in many ways: if little to no education is available or too many air signs in the chart they want to talk: they learn by talking, they entertain by talking, and they like a lively and entertaining social life. Each person they meet is a new source of information and entertainment. As they seek out new experiences they forget about the older ones and this can cause a conflict in their relationships because their partner may resent all of the new people coming in and out of their life. If the background was more intellectual, or placed more stress on education, Geminis will explore the world of the intellect and pursue the study of language and/or education. They are enthusiastic about sharing information and social activities with all kinds of new and interesting people but still have issues of maintaining interests in an on-going relationship.

The parents of Geminis have some very interesting reactions to each other in terms of their body language. The impact of the words that they react to fascinates Gemini, who feel left out. Geminis often try to recreate these situations in adult life and in their relationships. they need verbal interchanges with their mates. It can start as harmless banter and work its way into bickering. if the mate of the Gemini doesn't understand that Geminis need to see a reaction(body language) to words, and if the mate doesn't respond appropriately to the situation, terrible verbal fights can ensue, leaving lots of hurt feelings and misunderstandings.

One relationship difficulty for Geminis stems from a  fear or a disinterest in working through problems to some compatible compromise or solution. Since they are social at heart it's easier for them to run off then work through a serious situation with an old partner. This type of Gemini needs to work through disagreements without becoming resentful. It seems that Gemini people do not understand where they fit in. They keep looking for a secure place in the universe and this is where the double talk takes place. They minimize or maximize any life situation based on the interests of the moment. They tend to be late or early time flies when they enjoy what they do or drags if it they do not.Planets in Gemini tend to have a controversial or contradictory flavor that is added to the personality as well as an interest in the pursuit of the intellectual.

Delineations Through Richard's Chart

Sun Trine Moon- the "I am" principle is harmonizing with the "I feel, I respond to the world" principle. Father and mother like one another. Sun in Gemini in the 7th- The father is controversial, curious, ever changing and was always inside his head when it comes to his relationships. Moon in Leo in 9th- The mother is proud, sensitive and highly creative in her spiritual beliefs.
Sun Opposing Neptune- the "I am" principle is confronting the "I delude" principle. Father compromises Richard's dreams, aspirations and inspirations as a young child. Neptune in Sagittarius in the 1st- shows that Richard's personality was heavily influenced by his father's unfair compromises.
Sun Trine Pluto- the "I am" principle is supporting the "I want to be in control" principle. Father was one who liked to be in control. Pluto in Libra in the 11th- Father was happiest when he was competing for control of the family group or in any group that he felt he controlled.

Moon Trine Neptune- The "I feel, I respond to the world" principle is harmonizing with "I delude" principle. Mother lives in a fantasy-based reality world that helps Richard adapt to his family life and spiritual life. Neptune in Sagittarius in the 1st- shows that Richard's mother was the one that brought out his spiritual side.

Mercury Conjunct Venus- The "I communicate, I think, I talk, I hear" principle is blending with the "I want, I want to be, I want to be loved" principle. Meaning that Richard hears what he wants to hear, communicates what he wants to communicate about, thinks about the concept of love and talks about wanting to be loved. Mercury in Cancer in the 8th- Richard thinks about safety and security, Has intimacy issues; thinks and then feels emotions very deeply which help transform him. Has trust issues. Venus in Cancer in the 8th-Richard wants to be in love but finds he is more in love with security and safety both psychically and emotionally. Giving Richard the appearance of someone who loves easily but is unwilling to be anymore than intellectually loving. Mercury square Jupiter- "I communicate, I think, I talk, I hear" principle is challenging the "I relate, I open up to, I expand" principle. Richard will get the urge to want to say something to someone but then will try to open up to them and when he does something will impede him from expressing what he wants to express. Jupiter in the 10th house- Richard's life purpose is to learn how to open himself up both psychically, emotionally  and spiritually; expanding himself without fear of being misunderstood. Mercury Squaring Saturn- the "I communicate, I think, I talk, I hear" principle is frustrating the "I take seriously, I regard with caution, I'm afraid of" principle. A fear which he gets from his father that frustrates Richard. when Richard tried to express himself as a child he was met with being ignored and unheard. Something that his father said long ago still rings true to Richard even into adulthood making him hesitant with others and in relationships. Saturn in Libra in the 10th- Restricts Richard's balance and harmony in worldly life, his trust, and left with a feeling of loneliness that can come out as mistrust or coldness.

Venus square Jupiter- the "I want, I want to be, I want to be loved" principle frustrating the "I relate to, I open up to, I expand" principle. Also the mother's influence on the child's psyche and how these influences frustrated Richard's need to relate. Jupiter in Libra in the 10th- Richard should be able to relate to others in a balanced and harmonious way but due to his mother's influence there is hesitation which pushes Richard into the comfort of possessions, money and status rather than the company of women. Squaring Saturn in Libra in the 10th- There are limits and restrictions placed on the things that Richard wants in this life that were given to him by his father. Richard's father plays a very significant role in his life... some good and most bad. These aspects give Richard a hint of loneliness, sadness, a feeling that he is intentionally keeping a healthy and safe distance from you. Richard's father neglected him emotionally, took the things that he wanted away from him and left Richard without a feeling of self- worth. He was inadequate to deal with the things that life threw at him making him seem older than his age.

Mars Trine Jupiter- the "I act" principle cooperating with the "I relate, I open up to, I expand" principle. Richard acts and relates to the things that he likes. Mars in Gemini in the 6th- Richard acts in a controversial manner to work, service and health. Acts with his intellect to tackle work, service and health. Trine Saturn- harmonizing with Richard's fears and keeps him grounded. Opposing Uranus in the 12th- the "I act" principle is confronting the "I behave, my behavior versus my actions, my ability to open up my consciousness, I'm eccentric about" principle. which reveals his Karma. Richards actions and behaviors are not one in the same. Depending on which energy Richard is choosing to focus on he can be quite the handful when properly motivated. It is Richards task to figure out how to align his actions and behaviors in one so that he can begin to learn about his spiritual awakening.

Jupiter Conjunct Saturn in the 10th- the "I relate, I open up to, I expand" principle is intensifying the "I take seriously, I regard with caution, I;m afraid of" principle. All of the things that Richard relates to he considers with caution, apprehension and a slight fear of within the outside world. The feelings of freedom and Independence are intensified by his feelings of being caged.

Uranus: The Unconventional Awakener

Uranus: Unconventional Awakener Profile Within Richard's Chart

This planet is known as the awakener due to it impulsive way that it awakens us to change through disruption or surprise. Anything that has to do with the unusual, innovative, technological and metaphysical that makes you aware that there is something bubbling under like the future is in the making. Uranus represents what is unique about us- as an individual human being. Towards the goals of human being which can be described as evolution. Uranian personalities are unexpected, accident prone or having meaningful coincidences(synchronicity) It is the spark of genius, electricity and magic, something in the air signaling change. Uranus brings intuition; a side of truth that will set you free.

Uranus in Scorpio
Richard belongs to a generation whose impulse was to change attitudes towards sexuality and death, and the darker, more dangerous and hidden aspects of life. This facilitated a sharp increase in the interest and the breaking of taboos which gave rise to the exposing and expressing  of previously suppressed urges.

Uranus in the 12th house
The best name to describe Richard would be the closest rebel because this placement give you an urge for change, awakening and an urge to be free to do his own thing is somewhat subdued. Its as if the most talented and most original parts of himself are afraid to show themselves. Somewhere in Richard's past including but limited to being in the womb or in his previous life where he felt ridiculed, discouraged from taking risks, or his freedom was abused or under-used. The suppressing sense of liberty gives Richard an acute insight into what lies at the root of inhibitions in both yourself and others.Sooner or later Richard is going to have to track down what originally held you back, re-live it and once more find your wings.

Aspects of Uranus

Uranus Conjunct the Ascendant
(Covered in the big 3 aspects)

Uranus opposing Mars
In this opposition we have the " I behave" principle at odds with the " I act" principle. With Mars' energy it is represented by a physical action versus how one behaves in any given situation. It shows that the action Taken by Richard is compromised or colored by  the behavior pattern; he may not relate well to his peer group, may be self willed or erratic action rather than make necessary compromises in life. in some cases he may become violent and when angered or threatened. Richard can be overly willful and want immediate satisfaction because constant internal pressure is at play. The childhood environment was unpredictable, and Richard may have been so repressed at home that high anger levels are considered "Normal"

Richard acts one way and then feels compromised by his eccentric needs, the action taken may not only be unproductive but these individuals feel internally angry with themselves. if the anger is projected onto others, if others are blamed for the mistakes created by those who have this aspect then the energy is destructive. They will have to learn to act in such a manner that any eccentricities within the nature also have a chance for constructive expression. When the anger is neither directed at the self nor at others, the energy is free to express creatively.

This may translate into Richard having suffered some kind of abuse as a child. if this is true then much of the resentment that is harbored towards one or both parents along with guilt because one is not suppose to hate their own parents. This anger needs to be understood and not suppressed for until the energy is free to flow, the creativity cannot be released.

There will be no Putting it all Together for Uranus because of the nature of this planet in Richards chart. Granted its conjunct the Ascendant and opposes Mars but that is all that Uranus is doing for our purposes here. When the "I behave" principle interacts with Jupiter's "I relate" principle through Sagittarius it boosts all of the Jupiter energy making Richard one hell of a person to want to know just make sure that you do not piss him off. Then you probably wouldn't like him very much. Richard's inner child is filled with heartache, hurt, pain and neglect due to his upbringing so in adulthood he gives it full reign to make up for the abuse that happened to him as a young child. So if the inner child isn't happy or appeased Richard's whole world will implode on itself. When Richard learns to share, to give and set limits that are understandable by his inner child they will start working better together.

Saturn: Richard's Limiting Planet

Saturn: Richard's Restrictor

Last blog we looked into the Mother's psyche around the time the Richard was born till the age of 3. (Venus profile) Now we will see the father's psyche and how that affected Richard in his early life. Normally this would be considered an outer planet but since it has so many aspects to the inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars) we will view it as a personal planet. Like the sun representing the Father or the father figure, Saturn takes on the authoritative role.

Some people have taken it to mean the person in your life that limits you or restricts you in some way. I tend to lean more on the side that Saturn's energy is more so to test you and see if you learning from your life. Some astrologers believe that Saturn's energy is likened to a Grim reaper- the energy that cuts one down. This Planetary energy gets a bad wrap. Saturn is like teacher trying to get you through this lesson so that you can build upon the foundations and learn more. Every time that you successfully pass one of Saturn's lessons you get a little bit closer to learning the universal laws that govern this world. When you do not pass or haven't learned any of the lessons Saturn can be a cruel teacher indeed. when the person isn't willing to give up their childhood ideas and illusions, allowing ourselves to remain ignorant of natural laws, if we think that the universe owes us a living Saturn seems to generate fear and apprehension within us. This energy isn't coming from Saturn specifically; it relates to the consciousness and lets us inherently know that we are not complying with cosmic law.

Early in our life Saturn Reveals the individuals weak points, points of insecurity that can manifest in a psychical manner (frail health) in an intellectual manner (apprehension regarding intellectual abilities) or it can influence one's own sense of self worth. children who do not feel worthy feel guilty about taking up space in the universe, for they are seldom recognized by anyone that they would consider to be an important authority figure in their life. Since Saturn is poorly aspected (lots of hard aspects) it shows that Richard's father had a unhealthy or nonconstructive impact on Richard's psyche. These influences don't show up til Richard starts taking on more adult responsibilities: ranging from expressing sexuality to career aspirations.

Saturn represents the mundane area in life that we regard with caution or approach with fear. For it is the energy that must be expressed in a responsible way; They must be channeled to meet the universal needs and not our personal drives in a willful fashion. Saturn also monitors all of the destructive behavior in the universe. The universal flow requires us to be responsible for our selves; if we aren't the irresponsibility will have to be ironed out. Again when we see Saturn impacting personal planets it shows that part of the personality that must mature in this life. Some people have to make a conscious effort to express or develop facets of the personality; the difficulties will be shown by the Saturn ties. These ties emphasize the importance of that life area not ties that keep us from being. The more aspects one has to Saturn the more one needs to intensely break the ties with the inherited experience and become self-responsible. When people can break from the past, when they can free themselves to explore all of the mythic images describing the process of maturity, the soul can assimilate the responsibility of higher consciousness.

Saturn in Libra
Since Saturn represents order, necessity, force of circumstances and the lessons that they impose. Naturally it brings along the sense of discipline and responsibility  behind learning the lesson. Saturn is about testing and pressure which can make the energy limiting and depressing as it delays or denies. Any form of authority like parents, elders, teachers, and officialdom. Making inadequacy and inhibition normal feelings if we haven't learned our lessons yet and a sense of Achievement and Status when we have learned the lessons well.

With that being said when Saturn is in Libra, Richard is learning the art, grace, and harmony to develop principles concerning relating and justice. Initially, the need to learn such lessons may manifest as a fear of being answerable to something or someone, or having to subscribe to society's rules. Along the way, by way of compensation, drawn to committing yourself up to the eyebrows, either financially, emotionally, or both trying to be all things to all people or to be caught up in the valley of decisions. Richard needs to learn how to gradually and eventually acquire a sense of how to compromise without sacrificing his own or someone Else's principles, how to be lighthearted yet at the same time sincere, and to make considered decisions. This could enable Richard to become an authority in what were at first possibly areas of weakness: fair play and keeping the peace without merely glossing over issues.

Saturn in the 10th house
this is Saturn's Natural house. It actually rules the 10th house so when it is placed here it means that Richard's lessons and necessities are very obvious and make their self obvious. this is because Richard feels that he definitely needs to amount to something in life and therefore set about pursuing the goals and dealing with the challenges of the material world, or he feels rather weak in the face of the world at large and settle for being no one in particular. This is based off of his mother's influence in particular; due to her ambitions or fears, her confidences or doubts, got readily passed down to him.

Richard must make an attempt to amount to something in this world for that is Richard's test-bed of his life; worldly success is suppose to be his and could well be so but if his ambitions are someone Else's or they have been suppressed by self-doubt you will first have to fall or sink very low before you realize the true meaning and importance of amounting to something.

Aspects of Saturn
Saturn Semi square Moon
indicates that emotional responses cannot be totally selfish. Richard's fearful emotions can get in the way of his being objective about those demands. the hopeless child within Richard collapses in the face of them. So Richard must get touch with the adult inside of him and coolly manage the situation. Yet at the same time don't loose sight of the child in you, your soul, for that was probably not noticed or validated by parents or teachers in the first place.

This aspect is a hard one. It reflects the mother, her emotional reactions to her environment and how they are affected by the attitudes of the father during Richard's formative years. Due to this contact Richard feels that emotional reactions cannot or shouldn't be displayed; that all authority figures (the father, other males introduced into life later, and any person in authority) can restrict  and restrain the emotional nature. this can bring on a depressive energy and bring out melancholia- viewing life through a glass darkly. Richard needs to learn to express his emotions in a constructive manner and that emotional involvements also include joy as well as sorrow that is all too often found.

Richard's father definitely thwarted Richard's mother's personal expression. He may have been the type of person that delighted in restricting and limiting the female. Richard sees in his early years that mother's don't have a chance to do what they want to do, can't pursue anything that interests them without being harassed by the father. since these psychological games weren't lost onto Richard because his father often thwarted him as well as mom and poured cold water all over Richard's childhood enthusiasm. Being a male Richard feels that women aren't to be trusted,  that an emotional responses aren't given freely, that one doesn't respond spontaneously, the father's attitude and gestures toward the mother prevent Richard from developing easy emotional relationships. Manifesting as he's to masculine to care, to be emotional, to be responsive. As an adult he will offer love and then take it back; the woman who loves him will find that he opens up, responds to her and then withdrawals. Richard doesn't let loose with his emotions because he is trying to barricade himself against being hurt.

In order to begin the healing process Richard must learn to understand that he draws in relationships similar to that of his parents. Depressions and melancholia associated with relationships as well as suffering and a lack of emotional fulfillment. Emotional needs aren't to be confused with sexual needs here, for Richard can be involved in a satisfactory sexual relationships but their emotional needs are unfulfilled. Their parents are usually incapable of understanding them. He'll choose mates that are either far above or below them in terms of education, cultural or social economic backgrounds. Lack of understanding caused by too great a gap in either direction may cause hurt feelings, and barriers begin to pop up. This aspect causes Richard to feel like he has to give up something in order to have a relationship. Richard keeps falling back into the cycle that his parents created for him: unhappiness, emotional depression, a feeling that he cannot have what he wants. Saturn-moon afflictions cause a lack of joy. Life is seen as difficult. Joy needs to be nurtured.

Actions is seriously considered, well thought out, not particularly restrictive, but Richard will seem very mature at a young age.Richard was taught to think more than most children. This will make Richard a dedicated and loyal employee, who makes careful decisions, who's highly organized, and who does well in traditional management or big business. Richard won't rush into a relationship; he relates only when  he has thought out all of the possibilities of the situation, then he will slowly move throughout his goals. it indicates that Richard tends to be loyal sexually and emotionally, who feels  a strong bond of responsibility regarding sexual relationships.

Putting it all together
We see from Saturn's influence that there are a lot of lessons that Richard had trouble de cyphering at a young age; his parents relationship and his place within it. The limiting factor of his father and how that played a huge role on his mother as well as himself. Richard grew up watching his father limit his mother almost in the same manner as Richard's father did to him. With all of this going on Richard was learning that women aren't equal to men; that a woman's needs come after the father's if they even come at all. This left no room for Richard in his parents life. He didn't understand why his father wouldn't allow him to do things as a child or letting his mother do the things that she wanted. Seeing how this affected his mother Richard decided to side with his mother. Learning that women aren't good. That there is something about them to be feared, not to trust their emotions and that their thoughts and feelings do not matter because that's how my father views them. Without a balanced way for Richard to see the masculine and the feminine his self- worth, self- values, and any effort made to be an individualized person went out the door. So Richard learned how to watch others and get an idea of how to function on an intellectual basis; not an emotional one. Any interactions that Richard has to a degree are based on subconscious memories that he has carried with him into adulthood; all of his preconceived notions that he learned from mom and dad can be seen within every aspect of his life. Richard grew up feeling alone and unable to relate to others due to his fear of what his parents might say. When he wanted to express himself in a positive way there was always someone (mom, dad, teacher, older person) there making sure that he didn't. So when Richard feels like sharing anything you can see him going through the motions of wanting to say it, going to say it and then not saying it with a look of being internally torn apart. Because Richard puts so much value into this childhood memory and refused to let it go, he will have a tremendous time trying to figure out what he wants vs what his parents wanted for him and who he is without the negativity that he received in his childhood. in doing so he will be able to pursue an actual relationship where there is more than just assuming a role.

When Richard is in a relationship he will instinctively remember and think back to his parent's relationship. When this happens Richard needs to remind himself that this relationship in his head isn't a good relationship basis for comparison. As an adult if Richard chooses to look back and see his parent's relationship for what it truly was- not a very good one worthy of taking with me into adulthood he can begin to make the necessary changes needed to build and work on having a true relationship that encourages nurturing healthy and supportive words to one another, where feelings are heard, acknowledged and talked about in an openly and warming environment, but most importantly, Richard learns that relationships are safe; something to keep sacred and loyal, and that it is okay to be one's self when it comes to loving another being.

Venus: The Attraction Planet Within Richard's Chart...

Venus: The Attraction Planet

As we learned through the helpful eye of Mercury Richard has issues communicating his needs as well as his feelings especially once he is in a relationship. So now let us look at Richard's Venus profile so we can see how this affects him

Venus
Venus represents and symbolizes attraction; what you need and can give by way of love, affections, beauty, and happiness. It also reveals your social graces and charm but negatively can make you indulgent, superficial, wanton pleasure seeking which includes being anti-social. It shows us how to express ones self through art, and aesthetics and represents your ability to relate and harmonize. Venus is associated with female sexuality and sensuality. quite simply is represents what you like.

Like Mercury, Venus stays close to the sun and it amplifies what energy that the sun puts out. This is not a representation of sex love but of the art of loving in its intellectual sense. It shows us how we appreciate affection and the ability to appreciate being loved. Based off of the sign it will tell you what kind of affection we are willing to accept versus what the sun sign is willing to give. Our taste in furniture, the things that we collect, the type of earthly beauty that we wish to be around, our attitudes about loving all come from the energy of Venus. Not to be confused with the moon's energy, venus' energy is more representing the impact the mother has on the child's psyche which is more subtle.

Since Venus is considered to be a "womanly" influence it is no wonder that this Venus energy flows differently in a man. We all have an intellectual concept of what love is but how we direct the concept will be based off of sex. Richard's Venus is afflicted which means that his mother affects his concept of love on a subconscious level; and may unknowingly project that image onto other women. Richard's mother may have had little regard for women or even for herself when his personality was receptive to her attitudes. if she instilled in him that women are no good then he'll subconsciously carry that attitude with him resulting in having a double standard regarding matters of affection. also he could feel uncomfortable about receiving love or maintaining a love relationship. Richard may in fact project unhealthy attitudes towards women while feeling uncomfortable about his own need for love, or feeling capacity. Any aspects to Venus indicate whether or not we can easily handle emotional relationships, whether or not we feel comfortable in an emotional situation or whether we have to work at being able to become receptive to the love vibration within the universe.

Venus in Cancer
To someone like Richard, love is bound up with security; affection cannot exist without care. Something traditional and yet familiar about your partner. A feeling of belonging, an involvement with and acceptance of their family and your own. Depending on how loving or non loving Richard's mother was will greatly influences how much he shows and needs affection. Due to some unsure feelings about his mother Richard will blindly cling to a partner. There is also a tendency to behave in a sulky manner when reactions of past hurts are triggered by normal emotional confrontations so remember that you express love and beauty best in a homely and private way.

Venus in the 8th house
This tells us that Richard's love needs and feelings that he has draw him into having deep and involved relationships that are compelling, absorbing, and hard to get out of. Love needs to go beyond the shallow and commonplace, so emotional crises should be expected and taken in stride as his unconscious desires pull you closer to that core of intimacy. If you thought that you could satisfy those deep sexual or soulful needs that you have by mere physical sex, you'll be disappointed. Try to reach a deeper set of moral values so you deep bonds manifesting themselves as binding contracts.

Aspects to Venus
Venus conjunct Mercury
(Already covered in Mercury Blog)
Indicates that Richard's mother had an influence on the ability to communicate. Also can indicate how Richard is hampered by his mother's influence.since there are afflictions to 2 other planets Jupiter and Saturn  (which affects his relate ability and his father's influence on his psyche in addition to interaction with the mother's influence on his psyche plus the inability to share, afraid to share and communication issues that were early on in childhood) this makes it a sensitive topic and a deeper look into family life.

Venus squaring Jupiter
(Already covered in Jupiter Blog)
Indicates that his mother was unpredictable and as a result Richard has a slight fear of women having unconscious memories of her reactions to life that were formed by the time he was 3 years old. His relating principle does not agree with the concept of love.

Venus squaring Saturn
Any Venus Saturn aspect shows that a major phase of personality are forced to consciousness in order that we may mature. The energy tends to restrict the part of the self that reaches out for self-satisfaction. This shows us how we view our capacity for self-worth and how confidence affects career accomplishment and personal relationships. in order to over this Richard needs to re-establish personal values as an adult. If we become the victim of the aspect we often create the same relationship problems that his parents had; he'll project his parents values onto those people we love and may develop an extremely pessimistic attitude about loving. If the pessimism is rampant then it usually means that the energies are usually put into the accumulation of money since it is a trust able commodity. usually if they are successful in the career department then they are lacking in the love department since that remains undeveloped. When loving and appreciating being loved is restricted, the possibility of spiritual attainment remains only an interesting concept.

Here the mother and father present an influence to Richard during his formative years that made it difficult for him to develop any sense of self-worth. In order for an androgynous personality to develop- a personality with the masculine and the feminine principle in balance- the parents must offer up an image that can help build the concept. A feeling of self worth is created by the constructive union of the masculine and feminine principles. because of the square they are both at odds with one another and this effected Richard during childhood heavily. Richard does not know how they feel about men or women, warmth and affection, or authority and the ability to execute a personal sense of order in the life. He carries an unconscious memory of mom and dad against each other, and this puts a feeling of apprehension in every relationship. Many internal or even  subconscious apprehensions about relationships may occur because the parents didn't express enough  affection in a healthy manner. People with this aspect often get into role-playing marriages; merely living with the parent but don't really share emotionally. We see that Richard was deprived of the kind of love that he needed, or one that was deprived of possessions that his parents didn't understand his attachment to. He doesn't enter into relationships easily nor do they work well or cooperatively when relationships compromises must be handled.

In order to break the power of the aspect Richard needs to stop looking for guarantees and learn to give confidence to his partner as well as look for it from the partner. Any behavior that Richard seems to be motivated by "my parents handled it this way" should be questioned because it may be an indication of an unhealthy family pattern that will also create the same problems in the children that Richard parents. Simply put Richard comes from a bleak childhood. He didn't have a chance to learn how to give or how to receive for it wasn't done by the parents. this aspect can be overcome by deciding to learn how to give and how to receive, how to appreciate, how to take a chance in a love relationship, how to work through a compromise without a feeling of loss.

Putting it all together
Venus puts into perspective of where Richard gets his feelings towards love affection and attention from- watching the relationship that his mother and father had till the age of 3. These subconscious memories that Richard is carrying with him into adulthood all stem from witnessing his parents use words that caused pain and hurt. Watching his mother's physical reactions and father's dismissal gave Richard an unclear sense of masculinity and femininity creating the little to no feelings of self worth. When Richard did try and communicate it wasn't received well by his father who tried to silence him which it seems that he treated his mother the same way. Richard's mother accepted this treatment and taught Richard that women aren't good; something that he still keeps in the back of his mind. This makes Richard very hesitant to even want any type of relationships with people. Love is forsaken for the safety and security of money and the loneliness that follows without having someone to share it with. Because his parents "played the role" instead of Engaging in one another life Richard learned that that is how one handles a relationship. Whether he was aware of it or not Richard is following the same steps that his parents made and the end result will be him raising a child in the exact same way that he was raised if he doesn't make a conscious effort to find his own self-worth and the worth of his partner. That the need to communicate in a deep and meaningful way can be achieved if he really works at it since this concept was never shown to him within his own family. Even though Richard doesn't want to become like his father, he is the only person that he has to imitate and if he isn't able to reconcile his father's negative aspects within himself, creating a positive sense of masculinity then he will end up being him. Likewise if he doesn't reconcile his mother's negative aspects within himself, creating a positive sense of femininity then he will end up being antisocial and an inability to show affection or love. it is easier for Richard to seek comfort more in material things than in a pursuit of love.  Subconsciously Richard took these lessons to heart and this is where he begins to develop his fear of receiving love and affection from women, his inability to show love and affection, and the higher importance of money than love. From the parents relationship or lack their of we see that Richard didn't have a healthy sense of family; of the masculine and feminine principles and he didn't learn to have a sense of self due to his father's and mother's behavior up and until the age of 3.

Mercury: Richard's Setting Sign

Mercury: Richard's Setting Sign

The Setting sign, or Descendant, is important to life interpreting because it gives you a sense of what kind of person your client is looking for in a mate, How you are in one on one relationships, and what you keep hidden about yourself. Since the setting sign is the cusp of the 7th house it also holds meaning for relationships, your OTHER, projected self, spouse, and adversaries. this is a key aspect in Richard's chart for a number of reasons, mainly that his sun is in Gemini which is ruled by Mercury but his mercury itself is in Cancer which we will get to in a moment.

Mercury symbolizes reason, the thinking function, the ability to make contact externally with communication and perception or internally via your nervous system. Wit, speed, dexterity, capacity for learning. employment and commerce are essentially Mercury traits. Negatively speaking they can be overly rational, dry, lack of feeling, sleight of hand, sharpness of the tongue including sarcasm and cynicism and finally can block or be blind to empathy, belief or intuition.

Since Mercury was the messenger of the Gods it only seems fitting that Mercury be quick moving being the center of the communication hub. It can also represent the 5 physical senses and how they work as well as how we communicate. If there is a blockage with communication we can also see it through the Mercury aspects. Blocks in communication indicate that we are unwilling to share or might be afraid of sharing, or they may not be able to hear. The aspects to Mercury will show the communication difficulties that we may have experienced in our early years. this also shows us the difficulties that you carried with you into adulthood- never learning to discuss things properly, or fairly or at all in the early childhood environment. When parents do not communicate in front of the child they do not understand and since children imitate what they see and do not see this aspect they cannot practice it and become bad at communicating.

 Mercury in Cancer
Richard's mind is likened to an antennae or a pair of feelers. He picks up all types of vibrations and implications sensitively. Unfortunately Richard takes all of these vibrations personally and it gets him upset. then Experiences the feeling of wanting to know but at the same time not wanting to know. He can recall conversations word for word and have a good memory. Richard has a sympathetic mentality and the way you speak can have a "stroking" quality which is very agreeable.Since Richard is so sensitive it would be best for him to cultivate a liking for the truth, even thought it will hurt, for that is what you are so capable of sensing. Otherwise a failure to look at the truth is followed by a failure to recognize it just when you need it.

Mercury in the 8th House
Richard is best suited for utilizing his capabilities in rooting out hidden information and the deep causes that they are responsible for what appears on the surface. He is able to contact more easily than others such mysteries such as sex and death; what lies beyond the grave fascinates him. Secret information likes to find you so be respectful of its contents.

Aspects of Mercury

Mercury conjunct Venus
When we see this combination it means that the mother has an influence on Richard's ability to communicate. it can also indicate a person who loves communication, the arts, literature, appreciating beauty in the world and someone who likes to talk alot. childhood environment made for an open communication making Richard see communications going on around him but not intellectually. This resulted in creating a wordy child who will then become a wordy adult talking too much about nothing or a prolific writer.

Mercury Square Jupiter
when these 2 planets are linked together it means that the ability to use the senses, to communicate, to use the mind, is combined with the relating principle. In order to have a relationship we must first be able to talk about ti with the person with whom we are trying to relate. Again this aspect points out that Richard was raised in a home where words were not used well and the mood of the childhood environment was excessive- and people are hurt by words - they aren't supportive of each other. His family members are more interested in role-playing that relating to one another making communication difficult. Richard took this as normal thinking that relationships are normal when words are difficult. this aspect needs to be worked through if Richard wants to truly communicate and share his thoughts and feelings with another person.

The power of Jupiter allows Richard the ability to expand the consciousness, to receive new ideas but this cannot happen unless Richard's words are received well by others. Richard has a difficulty talking openly once in a relationship. he may not relate honestly, may not listen, may not hear what others have to say, and possibly misquoting what he thinks he heard to end a relationship.

Mercury square Saturn
Since Mercury is the symbol of outgoing communication, the mind, the ideas, the 5 physical senses ans Saturn represents the law, tradition, the psychological influence of the father, our ideas of caution based on apprehensions that we may have absorbed from the early father image. when these tow are together it indicates that Richard takes words and communications very seriously. That inhibitions or traditions taught to us by the father will affect our ability to communicate. This tie can indicate a person who is serious, dependable and often hardworking. a Certain kind of loneliness may be conferred for when communication is restricted limitations may be placed on the ability to share thoughts.

From this, the psychological influence of the father (Saturn) impedes the ability to communicate and therefore produces adults who find words difficult. they have problems communicating what they want to those around them. During childhood , somehow the father created some block or fear that Richard responded to. it brings apprehension regarding self expression. in order to overcome this aspect Richard will  have to work through the block set up years ago because of the relationship with the father.Once this has been accomplished, Richard can teach himself to communicate in a sturdy and diplomatic manner. until this aspect in understood words may come out harshly, or in some authoritarian manner that seems designed to offend the very people he wants to talk with. This aspect can restrict relationships, for the core of any relationship is the sharing of one's own thoughts and feelings to others. Mercury rules the mind, the thoughts, the ability to express one;s own thoughts to others and what is being said . when a father feels that his child should be seen and not heard he has no idea what kind of limitations to creative expression he is putting on Richard. this aspect makes you have to develop a sense of self-worth. Before one can confront authority figures in life, the inner self has to decide it is worth something.

Putting it all Together

Jupiter's profile hinted that there were problems communicating in the early childhood environment but it wasn't till we looked at the Mercury profile that we actually see where this is stemming from. Richard put alot of value into his father and the idea/concept of him and wanted to be just like him. He watched his fathers interactions with his mother but the communication was never supportive or he simply wasn't paying attention to what the mother was asking for. Since Richard saw that his mother was treated like she didn't matter to him, that the words she was saying were falling on deaf ears, Richard began believing that this is how you treat women. Due to his mothers erratic behavior because her needs were not being met by Richards father Richard started to equate women's reactions to being unpredictable and has a slight fear of women in this regard. Now into adulthood Richard learns that maybe imitating his father wasn't the best approach since he flits from one relationship to the next. His lack of affective communicating is a direct result of how his father treated him as a child. Almost as if he can still hear his father's voice inside of his head telling him what he should or should not do. A father's dominance can be total and overshadow the child's creative side to the point of stifling it completely. Part of Richards dilemma is how to relate towards others since his father taught him otherwise by having him be seen rather than be heard. This messed with Richard's sense of self and as a result didn't get a chance to assert himself or learn what it means to be a person; not a carbon copy role-playing version of what his father wanted him to be or what he thought his father was. It can also be said that Richard thinks with emotion, that hes reactive when emotions come towards him and his first line of defence will be his sharp words and tongue.

Richard is at odds with himself in a big way. Everything that Richard ever wanted to be is now being confronted by the haunting past of his demons...  (i.e his father) Part of his life struggle will be to understand the person that is Richard Hill. Who is Richard Hill and what does he stand for?  that certain truths (whether good or bad) need to come to the surface and be dealt with in order to move past this to be a better person. He needs to really see his father for who he truly was: someone as tortured as he was who didn't know how to cope with the daily stresses of life and took it out on the people closest to him. due to his inability to relate to others he shut out his son and his wife playing the role of husband and father instead of relating to them. What Richard saw growing up was just an act; but because no one ever told Richard that he still believes that this is true. That relationships are more for show than for something real and that fear of opening up to someone that they truly love will be the death of Richard if he cannot figure out how to communicate the things that he really wants to say without being fearful to say them out loud.

Jupiter: Richard's Ruling Planet...

Jupiter: Richard's Ruling Planet

The ruling planet is called this because it is the planet that rules over the Ascendant sign. In this case since the Ascendant is in Sagittarius we are going to discuss and cover Jupiter. Might as well start at the beginning and give you a comprehensive amount of information regarding this planet.

The energy that Jupiter gives off is that of Faith and growth in all areas of life. It has to do with beliefs, ethics, expansion that leads to faith and joy. Jupiter brings out opportunities and enthusiasm but as a result can make a person filled with excess, over ___ ing anything, and has a hard time stopping. Jupiter also touches on travel, philosophy, religion, the broadening of knowledge and understanding. Anything big or the bigger picture and GOD are all associated with this type of energy.

Normally, Jupiter is considered an outer planet which means that it deals with others and the outer world treatment of you and your interaction with it. In fact this is the first outer planet we come into contact with. It is also considered to be a generational planet since it spends a year in each house taking twelve full years to make it back. But given it's placement in Richards chart we will consider it a personal planet because it aspects Mercury, Venus, Mars and the Ascendant making the energy act as if its a personal planet. Jupiter gives us the stepping stones to understand our development and functioning of relating to others helping you to evolve your consciousness.

Since Jupiter has such a big pull over Richard in his life let's see how these afflictions came about. Jupiter is the planet of relating. The first person we com into contact with on this level is the mother- for it is she that feeds you when your hungry. Hold you when you need comfort and this is how you learn your survival techniques when dealing with others as a child. Our childhood is suppose to teach us how to deal with others and how to relate to others to create an interpersonal relationship. Some children learn this with flying colors while others can have trouble fitting in. Jupiter is the planet that one looks at when there is an issue with relating to others into adulthood as well as what motivates or what blocks a person from being their best. since this is a very special Jupiter it takes on a different approach: Jupiter describes the beginning of self relating to the outer environment but because of all the aspects to the personal planets it also describes Richard's personal attributes.

When Jupiter is afflicted it shows that Richard was born into a family where relating to one another was not well developed. We already know that Mom and dad liked one another at Richard's time of birth but it is clear now that the interactions that he witnessed between mom and dad are the basis for his life as he knows it. Richard didn't see them consider each others needs, or that they didn't listen to one another in his presence. so now when Richard goes to relate to others he is suddenly whisked back to his childhood and has flashbacks of how he should be acting. this may manifest as expressing himself in an nonconstructive way, dilemmas caused by " i want it anyway", relate excessively, over expand, over relate, pursue whims that aren't based off of common sense, no conscious idea of what he wants in life, inability to examine ones own personal needs because he was denied this as a child or never saw his parents doing the same thing.

In Richard's case, he needs to be able to relate to the person that he loves with these things in mind.  He must learn how to relate his feelings, thoughts, and personality to someone else if he want more than just a role-playing relationship with someone. Because of this affliction Richard needs to learn to consciously relate to another person.Jupiter symbolises the need to integrate the knowledge we learn into our daily lives keeping the knowledge in perspective. A learned person uses the knowledge to set himself apart, to maintain a position above others and remained untouched by those whom he comes into contact with.

Jupiter in Libra
Richard's life philosophy has to do with a strong sense of justice and he feels it on a personal level within his one-on -one relationships. It can also come from how Richard views/perceives society. Richard's faith in life rests upon his belief that justice exists. if it doesn't his faith diminishes. Understand that justice is not always seen on the surface level and has to be sought out in order to bring about change in your mind of in a court of law.

Jupiter in the 10th house
this placement shows that Richard will become well known for the qualities of faith and enterprise and other personal talents- concerning law, drama, teaching, religion or the military. Being involved with someone or something prestigious  is inevitable. Sometimes with this placement Richard may tend to focus on his work life more than his personal life, home life or inner life. Don't forget honesty and integrity are necessary in performing your duties or disgrace can result if you have too much enthusiasm for publicity, fame and fortune. This stems from your mother's influence concerning your inclination to excel and cut out the outside world.

Aspects to Jupiter
Jupiter squaring Mercury
Indicated that Richard was raised in a home where words weren't used well the mood of  the childhood environment was somewhat excessive, and people were hurt by words- they aren't supportive of each other. The family finds communication difficult; family members are more involved with role-playing than relating to others. Because of this Richard went on believing that this attitude s normal as well as the assumption that the relationships are normal when words are difficult. This aspect needs to be confronted and put into a different perspective. Jupiter expands the consciousness, new ideals but it cannot do that if one's own words are not received well. Richard has a hard time with talking openly in a relationship once its started. Richard may not relate honestly, may not listen, not hear what others have to say, and can possibly destroy relationships  by misquoting what he heard. The ability to communicate can be learned if he thinks that its of high enough importance. His excessiveness can be curbed and understood for excessive and angry communication only hurts others.

Jupiter squaring Venus
Venus symbolizes how we appreciate love, our intellectual concept of love, the ind of warm loving relationships we want to have (friendships) the kind of entertainment we prefer, our concept of the perfect love affair, our predilection for comfort, and our appreciation of art objects. Add Jupiter which signifies how we relate- how we open ourselves up to the universe around us and how we relate to those we love. Venus shows us whats in our heads Jupiter describes how we reach out to get it. Venus shows us how the mother image affected the psyche and the concept of the feminine. Since this is a square or a hard aspect Richard tends to be excessive. So he'll fall in love one minute, fall out of love the next minute and then freak out/ overreact in the relationship when there is some nuance that he doesn't understand. Men born with this placement have a slight fear of women due to the fact that his own mother was unpredictable and he may have subconscious memories of her reactions to life that were formed by the time he was 3 years old.  Richard projects this uncertainty onto any women that he meets; may have difficulty taking marriage or relationships seriously. May enter a relationship just so he can play the "daddy" role. Here the relating principle doesn't match the concept of love. When Richard is love he may not be able to relate or appreciate being loved by the person who cares. He has a hard time knowing what's good for him since he can't relate to what he wants.

Jupiter Trine Mars
Mars has a 2 fold manifestation of its life force: symbolizes that kind of actions we take to express our sun sign qualities or it can be used to determine how we act "sexually". When combines with Jupiter we have a psychical interactions with the ability to relate. Since Jupiter shows us how we relate to our own needs and since this is an afflicted aspect we see that he isn't relating and that Richard is overcompensating as a result. This aspect also shows how Richard parents were relating sexually at the time of his childhood and how the family related to actions taken in the household. Since this is a trine aspect the afflictions aren't as apparent. the family atmosphere was that of encouragement and positive constructive action. As a child Richard had someone on his life that encouraged him and showed him through other family interactions that one can relate to what one does and that one can be open about action taken. This is a good indicator that Richard enjoys sex and enjoys loving but it comes at a price.

Jupiter conjunct Saturn
Saturn represents how the father may have affected us psychologically during our formative years. It also represents Father time/ or father nature symbolizing how we crystallize our life experience, how we cope with being tested. Since Jupiter shows how we relate together they show how we relate to the changing life cycles, new approaches to each new perspective in life giving us a crystal clear view. This shows that Richard will benefit well from the process of individualization ( the process of becoming self-responsible) Since Saturn has such a limiting effect in general these two aspects together is pretty interesting. Jupiter shows how we open up and Saturn shows us the restrictions placed upon us because of our father's attitude towards us, or our response to his influence. Which shows that Richard has a tendency of opening up and then closing up at the same time. Richard might want to reach out and share a new experience  but be afraid to do so because of an unconscious memory that authority figures or even his father figure didn't like him doing. It can also mean that the father is a restrictive influence when the individual is learning how to relate. maybe the father cannot relate easily either. With a conjunction this indicates that Richard takes relationships seriously, that he may work too hard on developing all the potential in a relationship. or it can indicate a person who takes relationships so seriously that he is afraid of making a commitment, or even starting a relationship at all. Richard may have relationships similar to the type that his father had , and that pattern can be determined by exploring memories of his father's friendship over the years. once the pattern is understood the father's influence will be diminished and Richard will be free to  pursue the kind of relationships he wants to develop for himself.

Richard needs to develop a perspective on both how he reaches out to relate as well as understanding the restrictive influence from his father- and both aspects of personality will developed. he cannot relate fully until he takes responsibility for himself.

Jupiter sextile Ascendant
The ascendant indicates how we project our persona; it reflects how we handle our new beginnings. Jupiter shows us how we relate to ourselves to to others and how we relate to our own personal needs. we either understand what we start or we don't.

What did we learn from all of this?
After looking at Richards Jupiter Influence it is clear to see that there are some unresolved issues with Richard's childhood namely his ability to relate to others and express himself in a befitting manner. As children we look to our mother and father for verbal and non verbal cues to emulate our parents. Here Richard only saw the role-playing aspect of his parents and never got to experience them together showing a better version of a relationship. If if wasn't for another family member trying to show Richard that there are better ways of going about having relationships with people then Richard might be worse off than he is. Since a lot of Richard's issues are stemming from what he took as a normal mom and dad relationship can all be remedied if he puts forth some effort to re-evaluate his views on how his parents related to one another and how he relates to the people in his life. Richard has to make a conscious effort to not be afraid of sharing emotions in relationships. His tendency to open up and then close himself off is a defencive mechanism that keeps him safe from pain. Also Richard needs to recognize that all of the thoughts. and feelings that he has for his mother and by extension other women are not all fair depictions of femininity. Since both parents highly influenced Richard as a child he needs to understand who he is as his own individual; He keeps looking for the answers within someone else but in fact all of the answers that he needs can be found within himself if only he had the courage to stand on his own 2 feet and let go of past misconceived notions regarding family, love and relationships. Since Richard's head, heart and soul are of an intellectual nature this might be more difficult to achieve. But if he really took the time to calm his fears about his parents, relationships, and his personal view of himself he would find that things will naturally be better for him. Only problem being it is something that he has to do for himself but once he does there will be no stopping him!

Aspects of the Big 3...

Continuing from yesterday Richard's chart shows a theme of father or father figure issues as suggested by the big 3 placement in his chart. In astrology if there are any aspects between the sun and the moon they are said to give you insight into the father (sun) and the mother's (moon) relationship when their child comes into the world. Here we have a sextile relationship with the sun and moon meaning that mom and dad genuinely liked one another at the time Richard was born. This means that his father had a beneficial impact on young Rich's life being seen as a strong productive individual whose authority was accepted by all. Richard's emotional state is in unison with his spiritual state. Being an air sign again we see that Richard would rather think about his feelings than actually feeling them.

Aspects affecting the Ascendant
Ascendant opposing mars
the ascendant tells us what action we are trying to take. Mars is the planet that tells us how to take action. due to this being an opposing aspect it is harder to see how this energy manifests itself and hard to energize the creative potential within the personality.

Ascendant sextile Jupiter
Here the ascendant is the indicator of how we project our persona. Jupiter indicates how we relate ourselves to others, and how we relate to our personal needs. For Rich it shows that he relates to others by opening up in a manner that compliments the personality that he has put forth.

Ascendant sextile Saturn
The key term here is caution/ circumspection. this shows that Rich was raised in an environment of careful decision making. chores and values go hand in hand with authority and tradition. The childhood environment encouraged adult actions taken.

Ascendant conjunct Uranus
this is the blending of how the persona will manifest with the ability to develop consciousness or the capacity for eccentric behavior. In a conjunction, this is a unique aspect. the qualities of the rising sign will enhance (Sagittarius) approach to life will be unconventional, unorthodox and Rich's personality will have to manifest a more highly conscious reflection of the rising sing qualities. What this means is that Richard may be a GEMINI but his personality persona is more akin to a Sagittarius; the opposite and complementary side of Gemini.

Aspects affecting the Sun
Sun opposing Neptune
It looks like the sun is opposing Neptune... The "I am" is being subjected to the world of dreams, illusions and fantasy. With this placement it is easy to let the fantasy world rule you but if you can focus on the inspiration and not the delusional it will be okay. Richard needs to learn how to mesh his inspiration/ delusions into qualities of self hood. Because it is the sun opposing Neptune there is a sense of loss and need for compromise. The father (sun) is more involved with himself than Richard and as a result Richard becomes ignored. this confusion makes Richard doubt himself and who he is as a person. Neptune opposing the sun can also mean that either Rich romanticized or cast aspersions onto him so Richard isn't really sure who his father is. This results in Richard creating his won fantasy world where he can escape into since he now feels that he is living a lie. Because of this distorted sense of the individuals personal reality Richard will learn to become very intuitive and psychic. As this is carried with Richard into adulthood it will manifest as difficulties forming a loving relationship. Expectations are put on high when Relationships are concerned and can be unrealistic and full of fantasy. Neptune shows that his feelings are often hurt by too many people too often which causes a shell around his heart. The main thing that this aspect shares is that much of Richard's difficulty in this area can be traced to his father for being in his own spiritual world instead of paying attention to his own son. On a good note: this aspect makes him highly creative.

Sun trine Pluto
The "I am" being subjected to the collective unconsciousness. This is a transformation the needs to be gone through in order to learn valuable lessons about yourself. Pluto causes a feeling of uprooting,  being overwhelmed by someone or something that is bigger than us, and stronger than us in order to learn to let go of our obsessions, control and trust in the universe. this is a two level manifestation of Rich's soul making a constructive trip: 1 rich is going along for the ride allowing him to enjoy all the things of contemporary culture or 2 Richard has the energy and talent to work cooperatively with traditional manage mental concerns dedicated to doing something for humanity. As long as Richard is involved in some kind of group endeavor this energy will manifest in a constructive way. At least at this age Rich's father doesn't show him a negative work world and makes Richard feel more secure.

Aspects affecting the Moon
Moon aspects
The moon represents how we respond emotionally to everything. It governs how we react to our world experiences, emotional experiences directed towards us,what we respond to in terms of love poetry, and politics. It also represents the physical mother at the time of birth.

Moon trine Neptune
Neptune represents our inspiration-delusion-creativity function, spiritual development, creative urges, universal or impersonal love and shows us how we delude ourselves. It shows that we associate our spiritual urges with our emotional responses. With the contact of the moon this indicates that Rich was born into a home where spiritual development was very important to the mother. since this energy aspect fosters spiritual insight Rich would benefit from meditation  expressing his creativity, and a chance to grow spiritually. Richard thought that he had to follow his mothers spiritual guide and tried to avoid learning these lessons  but we must find our own spiritual path. This aspect can cause Richard to forget about finding love here in this world because he is so caught up in finding universal love in the "spirit." His creativity is limited as long as the body will not permit emotional relationships. Since Richard displays his love spiritually he is used to conveying that in relationships. Since his body is the "temple of the soul" it needs to be nourished and loved as much as the soul it houses. Once Richard learns that he may find himself in a close relationship sharing both mentally and physically.

Putting it all together
So what exactly does all of this mean? well It looks like Richard's father is the reason that he has shaped his life in the way that he has whether or not he realized it. That both parents neglect of Richard in an emotional way still carries with him into adulthood manifesting in his relationships or lack there of.  That his mother, although loving and nurturing, pushed Richard to be on the spiritual fast track but didn't explain that her path may not be his path which may have given him a distaste for spiritual endeavors early on in childhood. If he works at it he can get back to the positive spirit. Both parents to some degree lived in their own little private worlds in which Richard wasn't a part of confusing him even more. This "emotional loss" is the sole reason why Richard acts the way that he does in  any kind of relationships. Making unreal expectations onto women whom he knows can never measure up to either his ideal of his mother or to the perfected images that he has of her.  Due to his father's emotional unavailability Richard grew up feeling emotionally neglected and pushed toward more escaping facets of his life. It seems that reading religious books, spiritual endeavors and meditation will help Richard in finding balance and centering of himself. but most importantly we learned that in order to be the person that Richard wants to be he's going to need to let go of all of his preconceived notions that he learned from his father and make new ideas that are suited to himself; not to others. That the ideals that a woman should embrace may not be the same ones that he embraces with his mother.  If it wasn't for his parents and them being romanticized in his head Richard might have let go of these things that are holding him back in life now and be the better version of himself that he can be.

Understanding the Birth/Natal Chart Part 1...The Big 3

Note: The Phone number on this picture is out of date. If you would like to contact me please use the email in the picture above.

Thanks to my friend Richard Hill we will be using his birth chart to Research and discuss. The Astrological software program I use is called Solar Fire Deluxe and it creates some really beautiful images of charts and other things that I use in my life interpretations. My approach is slightly different than most astrologers; I also look at the psychology behind what the planets are saying. The Instant Astrologer by Lyn Birkbeck is another handy book as well as Astrological Insights Into Personality by Betty Lundsted that I use as a reference into your life.

The birth chart or natal chart is our universal fingerprint if you will. Everything that you need to know about yourself can be represented in your birth chart. A birth chart is the placement of the stars at the exact moment in time that you were born. This tells you what kind of energy you are working with and how it can manifest in your physical life. There are many different apporaches to interepreting this chart but all will tell you what you need to know.

So let's begin with the BIG 3:
Ascendant/Descendant, The Sun and The Moon

The 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock  opposition... Ascendant vs. Descendant (Sagittarius vs Gemini)

I  like to start at the 9 o'clock position of the chart which is called the ascendant. The ascendant can give you vital information as to how the client, in this case Richard, is perceived by the world. The ascendant, as well as the first house, represents the person's identity; character, first impressions and self expression. Here in Richard's chart we see that his ascendant is in the sign of Sagittarius which is an interesting placement because he is a Gemini. This is the most impersonal of the fire signs being born into the most personal of the air signs which makes him highly idealistic, likes to concern himself with foreign affairs, how the legal system works, philosophy and religious ideas. For richard his whole wolrd focused on the father; where the father was the center of everything. Sags traditionally seek out approval and love from their father or father figure when they are younger striving to be like them but internally know that they can't. Later the father dissapears and he is left with a void looking to others to replace what he lost with his father. With Saggitarius as  the Ascendant it shows that he grew up having everything and anything that he wanted. But for some reason his emotions were neglected. To compensate, Richard developed self-confidence and enthusiam but questioned his own personal values. Richard portrays himself as a superior being like he envisioned his father being and puts forth that kind of energy expressing himself with a grandiose sense of confidence and self assurance. Since Richard's ascendant is Sagittarius and the first house is also ruled by Sagittarius Richard's ruling planet is Jupiter. This planet governs the link between exterior being and your inner being. We will talk more about Jupiter in part 2...

At the 3 o'clock position we have the descendant which also represents the 7th house. The Descendant represents the "OTHER" person inside of you or your shadow. it also represents the equal and opposite reaction to the Ascendant. Simply stated it is the alter ego, better half or your projected self. In this case we see that the Descendant is in Gemini. Richard will naturally attract people who embody the characteristics of Gemini due to his broad and effortless grasp of all manner of things. Geminis adore learning and knowledge and for someone like Richard to engage their intellectual talents makes them all the more attractive because they have found someone on their level.  To the Gemini Richard becomes a role model and is put upon a pedestal. This can be a tricky opposition because Sagittarius energy is such that they can talk a big game but not much to show for when called on it and when the Gemini energy realizes this it begins to scorn them intellectually making Richard come off as smug or pretentious. Richard can handle this most of the time unless the Geminis multitude of information annoys him. Sagittarius energy is one of positivity and romance but with Gemini on the Descendant it can become a worrisome nature that takes on a inept quality. Normally Richard would put this on the OTHER but it is actually his own worry and ineptness that he's trying to hide. If he is honest with himself about his doubts then he will be more self confident. Since the 7th house is also ruled by Gemini making Richard's ruling planet Mercury which governs  relationships. Again we will talk more about Mercury in part 2...

The Suns Position in GEMINI
After we take a look at the Ascendant I look at the position of the Sun which describes the will and purpose of Richard. The sun represents spirit, heart, what is most important to you; negatively, your conceit and egotism. Since Rich's sun is in Gemini one of his life goals is to interact and meet as many people as he can in this life; make connections with them and learn. Geminis like to know alot of people but do not like to know them more than they have to. Sort of like taking a taste test. If you want a deep involvement you may need to look somewhere else. Geminis love to multi task usually involving hands, quick wits, and making sure that their group stays connected. Downfalls can be unreliable, evasive and indifferent. As a gemini child Richard shared the added pressure of living up to his father expectations that we see in the ascendant but it is manifesting in this aspect as well. Gemini children look up to the father and put him in the brightest of lights thinking that they can never reach them. Like sags they do everything they can for the approval and love of their father but it too is also denied.

Sun in the 7th House...
Due to the sun's placement in the 7th house Richard lives vicariously through the lives of others especially one significant persons life but  has to be careful because he does have a tendency to put his life in the hands of others taking on their persona. So do not loose yourself in others Richard you may not be able to tell which is which! But in all areas of self growth and discovery relationships in particular are when Richard will bloom. He tends to seek out people who are his true mirror's reflection in order to gain self knowledge. Due to his father's dissmissal of him as a child Richard feels more comfortable with women than men and has a distinct lack of trust for men. So the type of women that he might seek out would be one that has superior intelligence, perfect body, and can keep up with his adventures. If he has a hard time communicating his own feelings and understanding hers its because he really doesn't know how to convey them. The woman may have to work extra hard to gain his trust but it will be worth it in the end.

The Moon's Position in LEO
The moon is reflecting what the sun represents: your feeling responses, reactions to "OTHERS" will, your childlike security needs, represents mother, family, survival instincts, sympathy and sense of belonging. Negatively fear of the unknown, insecurity, defensiveness. This represents your SOUL and also gives clues as to your previous life. Richard's moon is in Leo, a fire sign, which also goes into what we have already discovered: that he looks to the father for all of his cues. His childhood was set in a father-dominated atmosphere which put a high price on perfection. which means that Richard needs to receive attention and acclaim in order to feel at his best. This stems from two possibilities in his life: 1 that he did not get enough attention in this manner as a child and as a result becomes uncomfortable with the attention not quite sure what to do with it. Or 2 he did get alot of attention and expected it into adulthood which makes him upset if he doesn't get noticed, reconized or appreciated. In order to function Richard needs a means of getting attention, holding it and justifying it. But needs to prepare himself for constructive criticism because the child in him will get upset if it doesn't receive unconditional admiration from others. When stressed out he might show off to gain attention or can become arrogant. He may be proud of his mother or she might be proud of him. Leo's are usually generous to a fault if they think it will get them the approval that they deserve. This can also give him a double standard when it comes to life because everythiung he knows he learned from dad.

Moon in the 9th House...
This placement shows that he has energy, enthusiasm and is aware that the world is bigger than you imagined it to be. He keeps chasing that which is the mystery of life and may have developed the ability to read signs and omens. Richard is happiest when life is moving in motion. His caring and nurturing ability can take on a crusader-like tone and his well being is essentially a spiritual matter. He finds comfort in adventure, exploring the world through higher learning, travel, religion, and philosophy.

Polarities: The triangle that makes up the Big 3

By just taking a brief look into the BIG 3 we have discovered that Richard is not a true Gemini- but rather a blending of Sagittarius, Gemini and Leo energies put together to equal a GEMINI. The main theme here is that Richard came into this life overshadowed by the presence of his father in all aspects of his life and transfered all of that knowledge/ life experience into what he knows today.  This is a unique element placing because it is a triangle with 3 positive sides. An all positive polarity is due to the fact that there are 2 fire and an 1 air sign that happen to oppose one of the fire signs. So he adds to the table Intuition, creativity, initiative, adventure and vision times 2 for the fire elements and Thinking, concepts, ideals, principles, impartiality for the air. fire and air signs are known collectively as masculine or positive signs due to them latching onto a strong male presence first in life or taking after their "father figure." This shows that Richard is all male for lack of better wording. When there is all positive masculine energy between the sun, moon and ascendant it is said that the person is all mind or living through the spirit. There is a lack of feminine or negative energy to balance this all logic and intellect. Richard even "thinks" his feelings rather than take the time to feel them. As a result he often doesn't pay attention to what woman have to say. Something he learned from his father. This can turn into him looking for a woman with impossible ideals to live up to redirecting his ideals on what a woman should be. unfortunetly due to this kind of placement Richard will be dissapointed in any woman whom he feels is too human because humans make mistakes and his woman has to be perfect. You may see this as flinting from one woman to another in search of the one or  it can manifest as violence towards women for not being the person that he wants them to be. In this case its the first not that latter.
