Mercury Continued: The Aspects
Mercury Sesquisquare Jupiter
When these tow planets link together, the ability to use these senses, to communicate, to use the mind, is combined with the relating principle. In order to have a relationship, we must be able to talk about it with the person with whom we are trying to relate. The hard aspects indicate that some lessons need to be learned. Jupiter represents how we absorb the atmosphere around us, how open we are to receiving new life experience. Mercury can indicate how we listen. During the process of individuation we must be able to read the signs along the road.
The aspects indicate that this individual is raised in a home where words are not used well, the mood of the childhood environment is somewhat excessive, and people are hurt by words- they aren't supported of each other. The family finds communication difficult; the family members are more involved in role playing than relating. The child absorbs this attitude and assumes that relationships are normal when words are difficult.
The aspect needs to be worked through if this individual wants to truly communicate and share his thoughts and feelings with another person. The power of Jupiter, the ability to expand the consciousness, to receive new ideas, cannot take place when one's words are not received well by others. This person has difficulty talking openly once a relationship has been established. He may not relate honestly, he may not listen, he may not hear what others say, he may even destroy relationships by misquoting what he thinks he heard. The ability to communicate can be learned if he thinks it is important enough. Excessiveness can be curbed and understood, for excessive or angry communication only hurts others.
Mercury Trine Saturn
Mercury is the messenger of the Gods, the symbol of outgoing communication, the mind, the ideas, the five senses. Saturn represents the law, tradition, the psychological influence of the father, our ideas of caution based on apprehensions that we may have absorbed from the early father image. When these tow planets are bound together it indicates that we take communication and words seriously, that inhibitions are traditions taught to us by the father will affect our ability to communicate. IT places restrictions on our confidence regarding our ability to communicate, even when the aspect is soft. This tie indicates a person who is serious, dependable and often hardworking. A certain kind of loneliness may be conferred, for when communication is restricted, limitations may be placed on the abilities to share thoughts.
this person is exposed to a father image that helps him learn how to communicate, even though the family communication tends to be serious. Because of these attitudes absorbed in the early environment, such people follow through on details, work well with the general public and have well-rounded minds.
Mercury Quincunx South Node
Your Mental/Communicative Function and Your Predispositions and Innate Qualities Exist in a Critical relationship
The quincunx of Mercury and the South Node indicates that you are not mentally attuned to your innate qualities or to the predispositions that govern your life and character. Your mental awareness and connection to your natural talents and resources is not well developed, at least not in the initial phase of your life. Thus, you are not likely to think much about the talents or innate gifts that you possess. It is quite possible that you remain unaware of whatever talents and resources have been bestowed on you in this life. This is not to say, however, that each of these functions—the mental/communicative and your innate talents and abilities—are not well developed on their own terms. However, the link between them usually seems to be missing. You may be intellectually well developed and a good communicator but you are not likely to bring your mental abilities or your communication skills to bear on developing your innate gifts and talents. Neither are you likely to critically analyze your natural abilities or to communicate about them to others. On the other hand, you may possess talents and resources that are well developed. However, these are not likely to be intellectual talents or communication skills. Neither are you likely to think about or communicate your talents, resources or natural predispositions. At certain critical times, however, you may be forced to mentally confront you’re your innate character and those gifts that have been conferred upon you by nature. Sometimes, a crisis may result from your failure to make good use of your talents or from you having used your innate resources for your own selfish ends. Sometimes, the crisis that is symbolized by the quincunx is a result of your failure to critically consider your innate gifts and talents or to communicate them to others. Through your action or inaction, you will generally create a situation from which there is no painless way out. The call for you to usefully employ your resources and talents may be upon you and it may demand the engagement of your mental or communicative faculties to resolve the dilemma that this presents. The solution is hinted at in the association of the quincunx with the sixth house—involving purification and humility—and Mercury’s association with the sixth house. It is likely that you will be called upon to purify your mental attitude and/or your attitude about your innate qualities and characteristics or your attitude concerning how you use your natural talents and resources. This will involve employing the Mercurian tasks of objectification and analysis to clarify your perception of these things. This may also involve the communication function that is symbolized by Mercury, to be used to share your gifts and talents with others. The correct choice entails having the courage to face your role in life as in relation to your positive qualities and those innate abilities that you can bring to bear in this life. There may be a moment of opportunity, demanding courage to grasp, during which you can resolve the crisis. The action that must be taken will usually require or bring about a purification or transformation of either your mental/communicative complex or willingness to employ your innate ability for the good of others or for your own higher good. If the crisis is resolved, greater depth of understanding about what you have to give in this life, more focused communication and mental growth will occur. If the crisis is not resolved, mental turmoil and crisis, the waste of your natural abilities and resources, ignorance of your own predispositions and/or personal humiliation may result, but hopefully you will have learned a lesson that can motivate future purification and transformation of your transformative and/or mental/communicative complexes.
Transcendent Potential
The transcendent potential of Mercury quincunx the South Node is realized when you discover your those spiritual inclinations and resources that lie within you through a process of intellectual inquiry and discovery. As you come to realize the divine treasure that is your natural birthright, your desire to explore this Treasure, particularly using your intellectual faculties and by communicating with others who have knowledge of this Treasure, becomes a core motivation in your life around which everything else revolves. Your critical mental faculties are now employed in order to access the spiritual life within and to achieve the high spiritual purpose for which you were born. Ultimately, however, the intellect itself must be transcended as you dive, naked, into the Ocean of Light and Love. When you are inwardly insecure, you may be too fearful of others’ opinions, or too selfish, to risk sharing your innate abilities and talents with others. Because you are protecting your insecure ego, you will make certain that the screen of illusion that blinds you to your spiritual birthright remains firmly in place, for piercing through this screen to the Truth would lead to the annihilation of your ego. Instead, you are content to lead a mediocre existence, giving nothing to the world and getting nothing of any real value from this life.
